Mt. Angel Abbey Academic Center

The new Mount Angel Abbey Academic Center is currently being constructed to provide the seminary with 25,000-sf of much-needed space. Six new classrooms will be built as part of the academic center, in addition to three meeting rooms.  The building meets the LEED® Certification and will incorporate environmentally-friendly features, such as an advanced system of natural lighting for the classrooms with almost no artificial lighting in the interior of the building. Passive ventilation and night flushing will be used to cool the building instead of air conditioning.

The project also includes the renewal of much of the hilltop landscape, road and pedestrian ways and parking and lighting.  The existing parking lots between the three buildings will be replaced with a new plaza and landscaped areas to provide more green spaces and improve the overall look of the hilltop.
