Emerick Announces Special Projects Group - SPG
Emerick Construction's Special Projects Group (SPG) was formed to provide the widest construction services possible to Emerick clients.   Emerick is well known for providing contracting services for projects such as Canby’s $23 million Baker Prairie Middle School, the $7.2 million Mount Angel Abbey Academic Center and the $40 million Happy Valley Elementary and Middle School, however, some clients felt that their projects did not fit into this category.   The SPG focuses on bringing full construction services to these clients, regardless of project size.

Such projects are labeled "Special" because of their diversity, a shorter time horizon, or the need to react quickly to a unique situation.   SPG projects may involve seismic retrofits, renovations, tenant improvements, insurance claims, demolition, pre-engineered structures, or any other type of construction.

SPG Project Examples:
Toyota PPO Building Expansion
Emerick's SPG constructed a 35,000 sf addition to the existing Toyota PPO Building at the Port of Portland's Terminal 4; a steel structure with minimal finishes.   The building was in operation the entire duration of the project.   The team placed just short of 650 yards of concrete in a slab on grade in a single day.   SPG finished on time and was recognized in the Pacific Builder & Engineer's October issue for this massive achievement.

Redesign of the Tillamook ® Cheese Ice Creamery & the 100th Anniversary Historical Days
Portland designer, Samantha Jordan, created the new look for the facade of the ice cream area and the walk through at Tillamook ® Cheese's History of the Creamery.   Emerick SPG installed all of the finished work throughout the projects.   The graphic portions of the projects were printed by Oregon Blue Print & Digital.   Multiple types of materials were used for the remodel to give it a fresh look and to maintain durability for the one plus million visitors per year.   Graphic counter facades and back-wall mountings were added, along with hanging metal menus; painting and window vinyls.   Printed substrates were applied to the walls in layers for a 3D effect.   Paint was used to give the area a more intimate feel.   Preserving existing elements, the use of various printed fabric wrapped structures and custom constructed boxes house the displays.   The addition of ceiling flags and wall streamers help tie in all the elements and complete the visitors experience.

Battle Ground Community Events Building
Emerick Construction's SPG constructed a new 13,500 sf Community Events Building for the City of Battle Ground in Washington.   In addition to the building, a 2,700 sf outdoor shelter, parking lot, site improvements, water, sewer, and drainage improvements and removal of an existing metal storage building were also completed.

The new Battle Ground Community Events Building will greatly improve the opportunities for large indoor gatherings for the Battle Ground Community.   It features a great room with seating for about 260, commercial kitchen space and break-out rooms to host smaller events.
