OUR ROOTS

Celebrating 80 Years 2023 - A look back

To all our valued team members, in the field and at the office, whether you joined us decades ago or have recently become part of our family, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your talents and passion have amplified our achievements and pushed us to raise the bar, continuously setting new benchmarks for excellence.

Where we began

Emerick Construction is a well-established, locally-owned company that prioritizes long-term stability. It all started with Paul B. Emerick, a teacher who enjoyed building houses as a hobby during his weekends. Through word of mouth, his hobby grew in popularity until he founded a full-time concrete subcontracting firm in 1943. By the 1950s, Emerick Construction was undertaking commercial projects and even won its first $1 million contract with the Dairy Cooperative Association. Today, more than eighty years later, Emerick Construction is one of the top general contractors in the area. It has earned a reputation as the go-to contractor for complex, team-driven projects.

YOUR LEADERSHIP TODAY

Corey M. Lohman | President | LEED AP
In 2002, Corey began his career at Emerick as a Project Engineer. Over the next few years, his savvy business skills, extensive knowledge of construction, and meticulous eye for detail were the perfect combination to start a new division at Emerick. Thus, in 2006, SPG was born. His positive energy and vision for the future led to his appointment as President of the company in 2012.

Larry Sitz | Chief Executive Officer
Larry began his career at Emerick in 1975 as an Assistant Project Engineer. Four decades later, he combines his broad expertise with an inventive skill to help each of our clients realize maximum value for their building investment and estimating. Increasing the quality, economy, and safety of every Emerick project is at the heart of his approach. In addition, Larry is one of the leading experts in seismic renovations and retrofits in the Pacific NW.
